     Elmus Ealy Shelton was born on April 15, 1913 in Madison, Morgan County, Georgia..  His wife Jessie Thelma BRAY, called "Jess" by most folks, died from leukemia in 1960 at the age of 49, she left behind four young sons, ranging from ages 8 to 18 years old and four other grown children. They had a hard life raising their children through the depression.  In the early 1940’s they did not have electricity and would have to get their lessons, as they called it, by an oil lamp.  They had to go out early in the morning to get the firewood for their wood stove that they used to cook on and for their fireplace when they needed heat. Elmus was a sharecropper. After Jess died Elmus moved from South Georgia to Atlanta and started work as a mechanic.  He lived there until he retired.  After that, he moved back south again.  He died from a heart attack on May 3, 1989 in Unadilla, Georgia.  He was 76 years old.  He is buried in Hawkinsville, Georgia.  They had the following children:

Annie Jean SHELTON	b.27APR1935 in Hawkinsville, Georgia and died 23OCT2000 in Florida.  She m.1st. Andrew William GIBSON and had: Glenda Jean GIBSON, Andrew Travis GIBSON, Gerald Tift GIBSON, David Lamar GIBSON, and Susan Teresa GIBSON.  Annie Jean m.2nd Richard Mack FERGUSON.
